eat, drink & sleep at 103

two days at the bakery

An exclusive weekend at our one-room hotel with the full experience of the small bakery and cidery we call home. It is neither an ordinary hotel nor a BnB, rather it is the experience of a family-run artisan food establishment in the middle of nowhere, with the forest and the smell of freshly baked bread as your neighbor.

Check-in Friday (usually afternoon until late evening, depending on how far you have traveled)

Check-out Sunday (usually after breakfast but you have the whole of Sunday to yourself).

Our hotel is an opportunity for us to let you get a little closer to what it means to create a bread and a cider, both the raw material and the existence. We have designed the weekend according to our own desire for a weekend with the simple food and outstanding drink, where you both have time for each other and time with us who run Hjulsjö 103. You are here as our guests, and we look forward to every weekend.

What to expect

FALL - WINTER - SPRING

On Friday we will taste cider and show you the cidery before you get a lunch bag to cook at the hotel, if we are not open for pizza at the bakery (see pizza dates below)! The bakery's breakfast is available in the bakery on Saturday & Sunday from 8 am (if you would rather have a breakfast bag to the hotel, let us know), and soup lunch is available on Saturday in the café from 11 am-2 pm. On Saturday evening when the bakery is closed we usually roll and eat pasta together. Add our cider package to the weekend's meals for a complete tasting weekend with us!

Pizza Fridays this spring; February 14, March 28, April 25, May 9, May 23, June 6, June 13.

FAQs

Do you offer gluten free / vegan food?

Nope. Or, that is to say, some of our products are made without gluten and / or does not include animal products. However, we do not offer alternatives to our sourdough bread for the gluten intolerant, neither do we have an alternative menu completely without dairy products, even though we very seldom use meat.

We run a small artisan bakery and serve what we produce, and what is made in our region. The menu is short and mainly focused on bread, cheese, cider & coffee, with the Friday pizza and Saturday soup as our richer options. That said, even though we’d like to be able to meet every dietary wish, the bakery is too small to do so successfully.

If you’ve got gluten intolerance or eat strictly plant based, please let us know on beforehand. Most oftenly, we can figure something out!

At what time do we eat breakfast / dinner?

Upon arrival on Friday we’ll go through the breakfast and dinner preferences together to best suit your wishes and plans. Breakfast will be served in the bakery at your choice from 8.00. If you’d rather grab a bag and eat breakfast at the hotel, the bakery is only a few minutes morning walk away and we’re happy to pack what ever of bread and sweets you wish to take with you. Saturday dinner is usually around 19.00 (7 pm), but we’re more than happy to change into earlier/later time as preferred by you.

How about children?

How boring the everyday life would be without them! Bring them but take care of our old house and let them play with care and sense (you of course will!).

In the café, we offer no specific children’s menu. Instead, you’ll be served a few dishes to the table and all are free to choose what to eat, and what to pass on to the grown ups. Just as we like to eat at home.

There’s no fixed dinner sitting, and as you’ll be a guest at the café amongst other regulars, feel free to either grab a quick bite or stay for hours.

We have a baby cot available for you. Please let us know the age of the children and we’ll arrange the bedroom accordingly.

How do I travel to you?

There’s no bus or train that will take you all the way to us. The ‘local’ guest will come by car (and you’ll be able to park your car just by the hotel).

If you come by flight, please let us know if you’ll need assistance with travel arrangements from the airport (Stockholm or Gothenburg) or train station (Örebro).

Is there coffee at the hotel?

Of course (but only filter coffee = no espresso)! Being a coffee roastery, we’re happy to help you find just the right cup for the stay. Upon arrival, let us know what kind of coffee you normally enjoy and we’ll prepare an array of coffee origins and roast profiles for you to choose from and brew at your own wish.

There’s also a small selection of tea in the cupboard.

How can I get in touch with you (the host) during the stay?

We - Magnus, Märta and our two small boys Åke & Sven live just by the bakery, about 5 minutes walk from the one room hotel. We’ll come by every morning to serve you breakfast and catch up with any questions you may have, after which you’ll find us in the bakery. If you need to get in touch, do not hesitate to call us. We’ll never be more than a few hundred metres from your house.

Can I bring the family dog?

Absolutely!

Can I stay longer?

If you’ve fallen in love with the house and have leisure to add on an extra night or two, there’s almost always a chance to stay a little longer at a lower cost. Just ask us and we’ll see what we can do.

Can I book the house only, not the full package?

Nope. The one room hotel is more than just a bed to stay in, it is an experience if the food and the place we call our home. If you’re looking for places to stay the night, please visit bergslagen.se

we look forward to welcoming you
